Born in London, Ontario; Rachel McAdmas grew up in St.Thomas. She was daughter of a truck driver and her mother was a nurse. She had started acting at the age of thirteen in a summer camp in London, Ontario. She was later invited by the company to continue with them. After she graduated from Central Elgin Collegiate Institute in St.Thomas she acted in Award winning production "I live in a Little Town". Later she went on to complete her BFA Degree with honors from York University in Toronto. During her stay at York University she acted in the college theater and starred in the Piper a workshop organized by Toronto's Necessary Angels Theater Company.

Rachel McAdams debuted on screen with her role in "The Famous Jett Jackson in 1998 as Hannah. She also acted in the movie "The Hot Chick" but her career excelled by the role of "The Queen-bee" 2004 movie â��Mean Girlsâ��. Rachel has done lots of Canadian series. She also has a main role in the first season of Slings and Arrows but due to her advancing career in films she parted with television and joined the Mean Girls where is was co-star of Ryan Gosling who later went on to become her off-screen boy-friend.

In the year 2005 she was casted on Wedding Crashers and then went on to do a role in thriller Red Eye. Her latest role was in comedy "The Family Stone" where she was casted with Dianes Keaton, Craig T.Nelson and Laire Dabnes. Her career got a downside in 2006 when she lost lots of offer specially a female lead role on the Last Kiss which was later offered to Jacina Barrett. Rachel was very careful in choosing roles. She had turned down many offers namely an offer in The Devil Wears Prada, Mission: Impossible III and even a role in Casino Royale. In an interview she said that â��she had no interest in multi-starrer and heavy budget movies because she never had any interest in such movies and she wanted to do the movie because she loved doing it not because the money was high.

Rachel McAdams has received many awards and acclaims for her roles and her work. The latest honor she got was five nominations and three win in MTV Movie Awards in 2005. She was also ranked as Top14 Hot girl in a list of 100 girls in the year 2005. She was later ranked #1 in MuchMusic's Top 20 Sexiest Girl list. She was also nominated for the Genie Award for her role in Perfect Pie. Rachel has also received the Civic Award for her work in Culture for the City of St.Thomas in 2006.
